Denver Asset Building Coalition
DABC provides free Federal and Colorado tax return preparation for families earning less than $40,000. DABC works to build economic self-sufficiency by helping low-income individuals claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), maximize their tax refunds, and save for the future. We also provide financial training.
The Denver Asset Building Coalition Mission: To provide free tax preparation, financial education, and financial services through accessible sites in Denver to help the underserved build for the future and become economically stable. The DABC operates free financial and tax preparation sites in the City and County of Denver, from the last week of January through October every year. Through these free sites, the underserved public will be able to have their tax returns prepared free of charge, open free bank accounts, and receive free financial services and education to encourage them to save money.In 2008, DABC Tax SuperSites will offer some or all of the following services FREE to households making less than $40,000 total income:
- Federal and State of Colorado tax return preparation;
- IRS e-file (electronic filing) for federal and State of Colorado tax returns;
- Amended and Prior Year return preparation (2004-2006) in March only;
- New Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) returns in March only;
- Free Checking accounts;
- Bilingual assistance (Spanish);
- Free Tax education classes;
- Refund splitting (allows you to save part of your refund into a second account);
- The ability to purchase US Savings Bonds using your tax refund.
